Bernadine H. Boardman
Sidney—Bernadine H. Boardman, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Chestnut Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Oneonta. She was born on September 30, 1918, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Cassidy) Henry in Little Falls, NY.
Bernadine graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1937. On September 14, 1940, she was married to Frederick J. Boardman at Sacred Heart Church in Sidney. They shared 67 years of marriage before he predeceased her on November 24, 2007.
She worked as a secretary for New York State Police Troop C, in Sidney for over twenty years. Bernadine was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sidney. She enjoyed volunteering her time with the church, hospital and election board.
She is survived by:

Brother, Gilbert and Joan Henry, Candor
Grandchildren: Ted and Maria Tiska, Masonville; Greg and Barb Tiska, Masonville; Dan and Rhonda Tiska, Union Springs; Michael and Jennifer Cowen, South Park, PA; Matthew and Chris Cowen, Owego; Meghan and Sean White, Korea; Nicole and Bryan Frazer, Delmar; Chad and Amanda Clark, Schoharie; Jacob and Tiffanie Nabinger, Indianapolis; and Sarah and Alex Pierson, Indianapolis
Great-Grandchildren: Ben, Sam, Cassidy, Brian, Brody, and Katie Tiska, Caitlin and Brennan Cowen, Colyn and Cayla Madison, Braeden White, Reagan and Mason Frazer, Chad Clark, Keegan, Xander and Liam Pierson
As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Bernadine was predeceased by her great-grandson, David Tiska, and her sister, Geraldine Shields.
Friends may call from 3:00-5:00pm on Friday, February 19, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, February 20th at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty Street, Sidney. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial donations in Bernadine’s name may be directed to either Sacred Heart Parish, or the Sidney Emergency Squad, 21 Liberty St. Suite 16, Sidney.
