Obituary of Virginia S. Alford

Virginia S. Alford Sidney, NY Virginia S. Alford, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at James G. Johnston Nursing Home. Virginia was born on March 12, 1925 in Binghamton, NY, daughter of the late Eldon C. and Mary Margaret (Muggleton) Starley. On November 10, 1945, she was married to Harvey C. Alford in Binghamton. He predeceased her in 2008. She retired from Amphenol Corp. in Sidney as supervisor of purchasing in January 1983 after 32 years of service. She was a longtime member of the vestry at St. Paul's Church in Sidney; a member of Toast Masters, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sidney Athletic Booster Club. Virginia is survived by: Two daughters: Michelle and Nelson MacPherson of Sidney and Marcia Clinton of Longmont, CO Two sons: Mark and Jennifer Alford of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Matthew and Wendy Alford of Pine Bluff, NC Six grandsons: Barry, Brent, Greg, Jimmy, Eric and Josh Seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by her brother, George Starley and two sisters, Helen Vantran and Irma Harrison. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 25 River St. Sidney, NY 13838. Friends may call from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Harpursville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com.
