Robert T. Fink, 78, of Unadilla, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Bob was born on June 5, 1937 in Bainbridge, son of the late Harvey and Helen (Halpin) Fink. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1954. He served his country honorably, including two tours in Vietnam. He received many medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart. He retired from the Air Force in June 1974. Later he served as a Police Officer in Bainbridge, as well as a Chenango County Sheriff's Deputy for several years.
Bob was a life time member of the Bainbridge American Legion Post #806. For many years, he was a Coach for Special Olympics, which was very important to him.
In 1982, he was married to Grace Light, who predeceased him in 2007. On May 21, 2011, he married Linda Wright.
Bob is survived by: his wife, Linda Fink; children: Pamela Roma (Paul Henry) of Montrose, Nicole Mcrorie of NY, Irene and Doug Murphy of Unadilla, Amy and Jim Arnold of Indiana, Lisa Wright (Mike McWeeney) of Bainbridge and Tiffany Light (Nelson Ruling) of Sidney; grandchildren: Alexys, Anthony, Charlotte, James, Danielle, Derek, Alex, Kristin, Michael, Natasha, Naomi, Nakita, Denise, Dystne and Zander; siblings: Donna and Roger Rowe of Port Crane, Audrey Bower of Greene and Jeff Fink (Jean Kane) of Johnson City; nieces and nephews; as well as special friends: Mike Rowe and Dawn Hamilton, Amy and Charlie Carvin, Danielle Ebert, Carrie, Ron and Amanda Decker, Thelma Decker, Dave Hotaling and Al and Sylvia Mugglin.
In addition to his parents and Grace, Robert was predeceased by stepson, Richard Hodge; brother and sister-in-law Harvey Fink, Jr. and Donna Fink and brother-in-law, Roger Bower.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Bainbridge American Legion Post #806, c/o Richard Rusakiewicz, 86 W. Main St. Bainbridge, NY 13733.
