Ruth Bolster, Afton
Eva Ruth Bolster, 97 of Afton passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Irving and Katherine (Simon) Hutson, born May 20, 1919 in Hamden.
Ruth graduated from Walton High School and Kingston School of Business. On September 6, 1942, Ruth married Clayton Bolster, together they had several business endeavors to include dairy farming in North Afton for 38 years, cattle hauling, Richfield Gas Station on Afton's East Side and Bolster's Barn Dance in West Bainbridge.
Ruth was a life member and treasurer of the Afton Historical Society for many years. She had a great respect for animals and would never let a dog or cat go hungry. She assisted her daughter, Pat, in caring for many residents of Kelsey Manor Home for Adults for the past twenty years.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Patricia Stafford (William) of Afton, 2 nieces Jean Engert Jones (Robert) of Afton and Katherine Engert of Bloomville and special friend and card partner, Joyce Whitney; and her special canine companion, Tiny, who she lovingly cared for over 13 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton in 1979, as well as brothers, John and Stanley Hutson; Sisters, Ellen (James) Engert, Lena (Lee) Calhoun and special friends Pearl O'dell, Thelma Brown, Juanita Latimer and Mary Waldon.
Ruth will be greatly missed
Friends may call Friday, July 1, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral chapel with burial following in Eastside Cemetery, Afton.
