Obituary of LaVerna J. Foree

LaVerna J. Foree Unadilla, NY LaVerna J. Foree, 85, of Unadilla and Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born on May 11, 1931 in Granton, NY, daughter of the late William H. and Geraldine (Drum) Beers. She was married to Robert E. Foree, Sr., who predeceased her. She had been employed by Breakstones in Walton as a lab tech, and at Venetian Inn in Rock Rift, and retired from Custom Electronics in Oneonta. LaVerna was an avid golfer as a member of the Oneonta and Sidney Country Clubs; as well as an excellent cook and an avid reader. She was a member of the Unadilla Women's Club, the Oneonta Elks Club and the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. In Zephyrhills, she enjoyed golfing, playing cards and was a member of the C.L.A.S.S. singles group. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Sharon Backus; grandchildren: Stanley "Ley" (DeAnna) Backus, Bret Backus, and Katrina (Jerry) Ford; great grandchildren: Syrrah and Devin (Christy) Backus, Caleb and Garrett Backus and Cooper Ford; great-great grandchildren: Zane and Kennedi Backus; Brothers, William (Darlene) Beers, Earl (Linda) Beers, and Andrew (Phylis) Beers; sisters, Ruth Tennant and Terry Lambrect; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her great-grandson, Trevor Microni; her brothers, Richard and Clinton; her sister, Phylis Schriver; brothers-in-law, Don Schriver, Basil Tennant and Wayne Lambrect. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 22nd at the Unadilla Center United Methodist Church, 1203 Butternut Road, Unadilla, NY 13849. Burial will be private in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
