Obituary of Norman L. Jump

Norman L. Jump Norman L. Jump, 92, of Masonville, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 19, 1924, the youngest child of Grant and Mattie (Brown) Jump in Masonville. On October 16, 1943, he was married to Jean Ellen Butts in Bainbridge. She predeceased him in 2012 after over 68 years of marriage. Norman worked many jobs over the years, including construction and farming, and retired from Borden's Chemical Co. in Bainbridge in 1986. In his younger days, Norman enjoyed hunting and square dancing. He liked to play cards, do jigsaw puzzles and tell the occasional colorful joke. He was an avid fan of the NY Mets and the Buffalo Bills (the only true New York teams). He was a member of the Masonville Fire Department for over 40 years. Above all else, Norman loved his family; they were everything to him. He was a super dad, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed. He is survived by: two sons: Donald Jump of Masonville; Arnold and Junal Jump of Mt. Upton; daughter, Norma and Marshall "Ozzie" Osborn of Gilbertsville; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Jean, Norman was predeceased by his son, Larry A. Jump, Sr., grandson, Robbie Wally, brother, Harvey Jump; sister, Dorothy Morey and daughter-in-law, Mary Jump. Friends may call from 12:00-2:00pm on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial in Masonville Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Masonville Fire Department and Emergency Squad, 15488 State Highway 8 Masonville, NY 13804 or to the charity of one's choice.
