Obituary of Marie Ann Rittwager

Marie Rittwager of Deposit "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10 Marie Rittwager (Kaminek) was welcomed Into the Lord's arms on Sunday, January 31, 2010. She was born in Whitestone, NY on June 10, 1942 to Mario and Elizabeth Kaminek. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Thomas Rittwager; Four children Ann Marie Schaeffer, Patti Smith, Elise Glassett and Tyler Rittwager; and their spouses Michael Schaeffer, Ralph Smith and Kevin Glassett; as well as eight grandchildren; Amanda and Patrick O'Donnell, Shane and Melinda Smith, Michael, Tom and Mariah Schaeffer, Morgan and Connor Glassett; and three great grand children; Jessie and Isabella O'Donnell and Alexis Smith. Marie is also survived by her siblings and their spouses; Bob and Jean Kaminek, Ray and Marie Kaminek, Denis and Carole Kaminek and Joan and Pat Hourihane. "Let The Little Children Come To Me" Matthew 19:14 Tom and Marie have been completely family focused their entire marriage, thus raising over 25 foster children in the past 30 years, including Vietnamese Boat Children, children with learning and emotional disabilities and children from broken homes. She and Tom were Pre-Cana Instructors and Marriage Encounter Coordinators. Marie and Tom were recently awarded the Family of the Year Award from the Knights of Columbus and were both active in their parish of St. John the Evangelist, Bainbridge, NY. Marie was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Saint John's Prayer Group. However, Marie's proudest service was as Director/President of Birthright of Sidney NY, Inc. which has assisted over 100 young women of our communities bring their pregnancies to delivery and beyond. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, February 3rd at C.H. Landers Landers Funeral Home 21 Main St. Sidney, NY from 1 - 3 pm and 6 - 8 pm. A mass celebrating Marie's life will be held Thursday, February 4th at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, Sidney, NY. In lieu of flowers, Marie's family has asked that donations be made to Birthright of Sidney NY, Inc. 40 East Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Heaven is rejoicing because she has come home!
