Obituary of Beverly Sowersby

Beverly (Hartwell) Sowersby Oneonta—Beverly Ellen (Hartwell) Sowersby, 47, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Bev was born on June 28, 1970, daughter of Lorin and Barbara (Leonard) Hartwell in Norwich, NY. She graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford High School with the Class of 1988, and received her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Oneonta. She was a career employee of over 20 years for New York State Office of Children & Family Services, as well as a full time soccer mom. Bev was a devoted mother, supporting every endeavor of her son, Hunter. She was a former member of PTO and Sidney Rotary Club. She enjoyed attending sports events at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. She loved to read books, listen to music and go shopping. She will be missed by: her son, Hunter Sowersby; mother, Barb Hartwell Bowker; brothers: Donnie Hartwell and David Hartwell (Sue Brown); boyfriend, Scott Cleveland and family, Cami and Shelby Cleveland; siblings: Curtis Bowker, Sherry Guiles, Bill (Tracy) Bowker, Jodi Bowker, Cindy Bowker and Patty Bowker; The Sowersby Family, including Kevin Sowersby, Carrie Gallagher and Aaron Sowersby and Dave and Claudia Sowersby; uncles and aunts: Jim and Mary Leonard, Nancy Miner, Jerry and Kitty Hartwell, Stanley Hartwell, Duffy Hartwell and Michelle Parent Carrillo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Beverly was predeceased by her father, Lorin Hartwell; step-father, Tracy Bowker; aunt, Doris Hartwell and uncle, Kenny Hartwell. Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm at 6:00-9:00pm on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, October 16th at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St., Sidney. Private burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Beverly's name may be directed to Wells College, memo Soccer Program, Attn: Office of Advancement, 170 Main St. Aurora, NY 13026 or to Sidney Dollars for Scholars, 42 Union St. Sidney, NY 13838.
