Obituary of Theodosia Ostmeier
Please share a memory of Theodosia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theodosia M. Ostmeier passed away January 19, 2020 with her family by her side. She spent the happiest days of her life laughing, loving, and living with her family and friends; grateful for the time she had, knowing every day was precious.
Her family was her life. She spent her time making memories with her three beloved daughters: Kelly M. Ostmeier and husband, Chris Lieb of Sidney; Shannon Ostmeier and Ken Deming of Ballston Spa; and Erin Kraiza and husband, Adam of Unadilla. But her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Evan and Ella Kraiza of Unadilla and Grace Ostmeier of Ballston Spa. They were the center of her world and the lights of her life.
"Theo" as she was known by, was born in Moultrie, Georgia on March 8, 1940 to Lucy E. Connor (Ladson) and Benedict Connor. They predeceased her in 2010 and 1998 respectively. With her parents, she arrived in Sidney in 1946, relocating here after World War II. She was tall and graceful and was known for her dancing and ballet in her youth, performing at many community events of the years. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1958 and later became employed at Whitaker and Son, working in the office.
She met and married John M.F. Ostmeier and then relocated several times, wherever her husband's jobs sent them. In 1983, her family moved back to Sidney and eventually she got a job at the Sidney DMV office, retiring in 2002. John predeceased her in 2012.
In her latter years, she looked forward to seeing her friends every day at Sidney Senior Meals in the Sidney Civic Center. Their kindness and generosity meant so much to her.
She made many new special friendships this past year as being part of the Helios Care family, (formerly known as Catskill Area Hospice). She loved all of you for loving and caring for her and to each member (you know who you are), she was eternally grateful.
Theo and her family found an "angel among us" and words cannot express the love and gratitude they share for Donna Ladner and her husband, Marvin. You have been such a blessing.
