Obituary of Joyce B. Schroth

Joyce Showalter Schroth Bainbridge, NY Joyce B. Schroth 92, formerly of Bainbridge, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Alice Ahner's Adult Home in Harpursville, NY. Joyce was born, October 7, 1917, daughter of Gladys and Ray Showalter in Norwalk, Ohio. She graduated from Bainbridge Central School and Sayre Packer Nursing School in Sayre, PA. She dedicated her life to nursing and retired as the day supervisor of The Hospital in Sidney, NY. Outside of nursing she did several plays with the Tri-town Theatre, which she loved. Her favorites were "On Golden Pond" and "Lil Abner". Joyce was a life long member of the Bainbridge Baptist Church where she held several positions and also became a pastor fill-in for the churches in the area. Joyce is survived by her 3 loving children - Phillip and Geraldine Schroth, Westlake Village, CA Nancy and Edward Hromada, Afton, NY Rachel and Phil Walls, Schaumburg, IL 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great, Grandchild. As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Joyce is predeceased by her Husband of 51 years, Carlson "Slim" Schroth, her parents, sister, Dolores Herrick, brother, Bryce Showalter and nephew, Christopher Showalter. Joyce's family would like to recognize Alice Ahner for the exceptional care she provided for Joyce, Thank you. At Joyce's request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.
