Please share a memory of Janna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janna Lynn (Mott) Smith, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Bassett Medical Center. She was born on August 31, 1959 in Altus, OK, the daughter of Henry and Ethel (Jaggers) Mott.
She graduated from Sidney Central School, attended Carlow College, and graduated from Broome Community College. For 22 years, Janna worked for Broome Developmental Center until she became disabled. She married Christian Smith on December 17, 1988, a union blessing her with her daughter Hannah. Janna was a loving mother, devoted to her daughter; Hannah was her world. Janna loved her father and mother, who became her fulltime caregivers, as well as her dog Odie, who was a real comfort to her.
Janna was a Christian who loved God and studying and reading her Bible daily. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Endwell, NY. In 2018, she came back to Sidney to live with her parents and began attending the First Baptist Church in Sidney as her health allowed. She was so thankful for their love, prayers and friendship. Janna also enjoyed picnics, game nights, sitting by a campfire and movies.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Hannah; her parents, Henry and Ethel Mott; and aunts, uncles and many cousins in both the Mott and Jaggers families. Janna had some very special people in her life including cousins, best friends and caregivers, Henry and Kris Mott, and the love and support of their children and families; special friends Sarah Fredette, Mauri Misiaszek, and lifetime friend from grade school, Kim Lent.
