Russell S. Luce, Jr. "Buster", 81 of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City. Russell was born on October 29, 1928, son of the late Russell S. Luce, Sr. and Gladys M. (Chapman) Luce in Liberty Township, PA. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1946. He fought against enemy forces in Korea and was wounded in 1950. He was decorated with the Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, China Service Medal and the Purple Heart. Russell was honorably discharged in 1952. In 1951, he married the late Jaxie Hooper. On March 27, 1976, Russell married Shirley (Morton) Wells in Bainbridge. Russell was a long time employee of Borden's Chemical Co. in Bainbridge, retiring as a supervisor. He was treasurer of the Sidney Historical Society, and a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. He was also a past president of the Rolling Sprockets Motorcycle Club. He loved Harley Davidson and enjoyed genealogy.

Daughter, Cheryl Gordon and her husband, Richard of 29 Palms, CA
Son, Russell S. Luce, III and Cynthia Strain of Guilford
Adopted Children: John Wells of Wappinger Falls and Sue Crisell and her husband, Robert of Bainbridge
Grandchildren: Matthew Gordon, Maj. Brian Luce USAF and Andria Finch
8 great grandchildren
His beloved dog, Bear
As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Russell was predeceased by adopted son, Robert Wells, and 2 sisters, Betty Beacraft and Mary Easton.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 1:00-3:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 3:00pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney with Bill Davidson, American Legion Post 183 Chaplain, officiating.
