UNADILLA – Michael David Gray, 58, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2022 at M. I.
Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. He was born on July 24, 1964 at The Hospital Sidney, to David M. and Patricia A. (Pinney) Gray.
Michael was a man of many talents, having worked since he was 12, first mowing lawns, then working in construction for his Dad, to working in various grocery stores; Senior Restaurant Manager for Pizza Hut becoming No. 1 in NYS, at Cobleskill; owning and operating Tri-Town Audio Store in Sidney and Bainbridge; Technology Specialist for Information Systems Division, Oneonta; Self-employed Network Specialist; Auto Mechanic for Benedict's in Norwich; working in Construction for various Building Contractors; Housing Rehab Specialist with various Grant Programs for Otsego, Chenango and Broome, including the Flood Grant Program and Energy Services Specialist for Opportunities for Otsego, Inc., Oneonta.
He graduated from Unatego High School in 1983.
Michael was a former member of the Unadilla Fire Department and Emergency Squad;and a former member of the Unadilla Rod 'n' Gun Club. He loved racing and at one time managed the Davenport Speedway, Rte. 23, Davenport, NY for Go-Karts and Slingshots. A Star Trek computer game enthusiast, Michael found great comfort with the camaraderie within the science fiction universe. It became very entertaining and important to him during the Covid crisis while unemployed and during his declining health.
Michael is survived by his parents; his brother, Bradley and wife, Lynnette Gray; his nephew, Jacob, wife, Naomi and children, Leland and Meredith Gray; niece, Marisa and husband, Stephen DeForest; Aunt, Sandra Witherel and Uncle, James Pinney; cousins, Lorraine Corneilson and Steven Boyd, Tammy (Pinney) and Teresa Finch.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2022 at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
