Obituary of Robert West Jr.

Robert West Jr. (Bob), 69, of Pittsfield, NY, passed away on March 6th 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. Bob was born in Fort Monmouth, NJ to Virginia and Robert West Sr. on June 28, 1953. He served in the the US Army in Vietnam, serving for 4 years until his honorable discharge. He became a Union Delegate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiner's and an Organizer for the PBA Active Firefighter at the Pittsfield Fire Department as well as Otsego County, New York State Fire Police. Bob loved being with his family more than anything in the world! When he was younger he became a 2nd degree Blackbelt in Hapkido where he won the bicentennial. He was also a grandmaster in zen. He loved martial arts where he got his son into Olympic Style Taekwondo. Bob loved being a carpenter as well as a Firefighter (Fire Police). He also enjoyed Deer hunting. He was also a dog lover and loved his dog Max. He also was a member of the American Legend Association and Law Enforcement Retirement Association. Bob is survived by his wife, Maria West, Pittsfield NY; three children: son, Rob West, Pittsfield, NY; daughter, Irene West (Ed Gascon) and daughter and son-in-law, Bobbiemarie and Jason Bartow of Bainbridge, NY; granddaughter, Cassidy Gascon; grandson, Zachary Bartow; as well as his siblings: Deanna (Bill) Reynolds, Howell, NJ, Carol Gullickson, Bainbridge NY, Georgetta West, Bainbridge, NY, Crystal (Dan) Blackman, Guilford, NY, and brother-in-law: John Cuccio Toms River, NJ, as well as bunches of Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Eugene (Gene) West, and brother-in-law, Daryl Gullickson. There will be no services upon Family Request but there will be a celebration of life/ benefit chicken and biscuit dinner for $12.00 at the Pittsfield Fire Department at 167 State Highway 80 New Berlin, NY 13411 on Saturday, March 25th from 5-8pm.
