Obituary of Joyce Lawrence

Joyce Elizabeth Lawrence, 75, of Afton, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 20, 2023. She was born on August 9, 1947 in Afton to parents Kermit and Mary Jane Lewis. Joyce retired from Sidney Central School in the district office, and since her retirement, had worked as the deputy supervisor for the Town of Afton. She was also a devoted member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church and served on the committees of Ladies of Mary and Altar Care for many years. Joyce loved quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with her other family members. Joyce is survived by: her husband, John Lawrence; children: Michael (Deanna) Lawrence, Denise (Tyler) Kelly, Daniel (Trisha) Lawrence; grandchildren: Joel (Kelly) Lawrence, Tyler (Katelynn) Lawrence, Daulton Palmatier, Mallory (Brandon) Lawrence, Sierra (Joseph) Palmatier, Tyler (Cassidy) Kelly, Alexia Lawrence; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Jasmine, Austin, Amelia, Brayson, Brendan, Isabella, & Maverick; brothers: Quentin (Melissa) Lewis, Tom Lewis; sisters: MaryAnn (Kenny) Harmon, Francis (Lloyd) Warren; sisters-in-law: Janet Lewis, KG (Brian) Lyford, Patricia (Louis) Graney, Martha Lawrence; along with close relationships with many nieces and nephews and their children. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Kermit and Mary Jane Lewis, and brothers Kermit and Philip Lewis. Friends are invited to call from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, March 24, 2023 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 25th at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 18 Spring St. Afton, NY 13730. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Agnes Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
