Angelia Grace (Annie) Beames, 92, of Afton, NY, passed away on May 13, 2023, at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY.
Ann was born in Kentucky to Grover and Bonnie Owens Baker on July 31, 1930. She worked in the office at G. Beames and Sons Spraying Service for a number of years. Doing this and being a housewife was what she enjoyed. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, puzzles, crosswords, sewing and ironing, going to the car races, wintering in Florida, but most of all, she loved spending time at Henry's Diner in Afton with her friends. She was a past member of the Afton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Ann is survived by her sons: Robert (Linda) Finch, Chiefland FL, David (Vicki) Carpenter, Halcott Center, NY; Ken (Connie) Beames, Afton, NY; John (Christie) Walker, Colonial Beach, VA; daughter, Patricia (Kevin) Hoblin, Afton, NY; grandchildren: Robert Finch, Jr, Pinebush, NY; Jessica (Eric) Colley, Norwich, NY; Trevor (Sierra) Beames, Afton, NY; Chelsea (Chris) Dutkowsky, Vestal, NY; Nathan (Liz) Reese, Portland, OR; Lucas (Jamie) Walker, California, MD; Tristan Hoblin, Afton NY; her sister, Una Schultz, Erwin, TN; 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beames; her parents, Grover and Bonnie Baker; her grandson, Michael Finch; and her sisters, Arista Grosse, Glenna Palmer, and Lilian Avery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Afton Hose Company, 15 Spring St., Afton NY 13730 (notating in memory of Ann Beames). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Alice and Amanda.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2023 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral chapel with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton. Share condolences and memories online at www.landersfh.com.
