Ivalou Alida Reigles, 94, a longtime resident of Bainbridge, NY, passed away peacefully in the comfort of Norwich Memorial Nursing Home on May 16, 2023. She was born February 28, 1929 in Windsor, NY, daughter of Walter Freeman Mott and Marguerite (Hewitt) Mott.
On July 3, 1944 in Center Village, NY, Ivalou was married to Everett Reigles Sr., who predeceased her on January 9, 1992 after 47 years of marriage. Ivalou worked at home as a homemaker. She enjoyed babysitting various peoples' children over the years. Many remember her as the Neighborhood Mother in Bennettsville, where she lived for over 47 years.
Ivalou loved decorating for the holidays, listening to radio, watching her beloved Puppy Bowl Championships, growing house plants, sitting outside watching the birds and visiting with her family, friends and neighbors. Ivalou was a member of the First Baptist Church in Afton; she attended regularly while she was able and where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years. Many that attended there may remember her flannel board bible stories.
Ivalou was predeceased by her oldest son, Everett Jr. on May 10, 1995. She is survived by her children: Ron Reigles of Muncie, Ind., Gary Reigles (Shelley) of Greene, Daniel Reigles (Sandy) of Afton, Kathy Ackeret (Ken) of Decatur, Tenn., and Timothy Reigles (Billie) of Guilford. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and son, Ivalou was predeceased by her brothers: Floyd, Harold, Gerald and Kermit Mott and sisters, Gretchen Doyle and Yvonne O'Connor.
Ivalou's family would like to extend many thanks to her caregivers over the last eight years at the Norwich Memorial Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838 on Friday, June 2nd from 7:00-9:00pm. Graveside services will be private in the Lanesboro Cemetery, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.
