Obituary of David C. Sowersby

David Charles Sowersby, 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. David was born on November 27, 1939 in Sidney. He was married to Claudia Parent on August 5, 1961 and were the first couple to hold their wedding reception at the Elks Club in Sidney. Dave worked at Camp Brace in Masonville before becoming a self-employed business owner with Sowersby Disposal and Sowersby Pools. He enjoyed golfing, playing pitch, traveling to the Villages with his wife and friends, and building homes, including his own. He was a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge for many years. Dave is survived by his wife of 62 years, Claudia Sowersby; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carrie Sowersby; grandchildren: Alyssa Sowersby (Tyler Ruhl) and children; Hunter Sowersby, Aaron Sowersby; great-grandson, Cylis Burns; brother-in-law, Louis and Pat Parent; niece, Christine Parent; nephew, Michael Parent and his children, League and Walker; sister-in-law, Michelle and Guillermo Carrillo; as well as many friends. David was predeceased by his parents, Afton and Cornelia Sowersby, and his son, Afton Sowersby. There will be no services at this time.
