Obituary of Thomas Lander Sr.

Thomas Lander, Sr., 70, of Afton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born on December 15, 1952 in Wilson, PA, son of the late Delbert Kansas Lander and Bessie Virginia (Krauss) Lander. He graduated from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf with the Class of 1972 where he wrestled and played football. Following school, he spent his career working for Rex Sportswear in Easton, PA. Tom enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dice, and games with friends. He played softball and volleyball. He loved watching movies and talking with his deaf friends online, as well as helping with maintenance at his church and apartment complex. He was an avid 49ers football fan. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Snyder) Lander; three children: Michael, Amanda and Thomas Jr.; 12 grandchildren; his brother, Charlie and three sisters: Carol, Barbara and Kathy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Delbert Jr., William, Robert, Sandra and Mary; and his granddaughter, Brianna. A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church, 30 Caswell Street, Afton, NY 13730.
