Obituary of Richard C. McLaughlin

We are saddened to say that our towering mountain of a brother, Rick McLaughlin, 69, of Sidney Center passed away at home on November 13, 2023. He was born at The Hospital in Sidney, NY to Richard and Margaret McLaughlin. He graduated from Sidney High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He worked at a variety of jobs over the years, but probably enjoyed working as a milk tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Cooperative the most. It allowed him to travel and "shoot the breeze" with dozens of farming families around the area. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and was a formidable softball player at bat. In later years, he enjoyed going to yard sales with friends and socializing with his high school class of 1972. He was predeceased by both his parents, his brother Randy, and his brother Tim for whom he selflessly served as caretaker. He is survived by his siblings and their families, brothers Jim in Homosassa, FL, Doug in Albany, NY, Steve in Albany, NY as well as his sister, Jean , in Glens Falls, NY. We are thankful for and appreciate his close friends who made his life so much richer. This was a true gift to Rick. No formal services are planned at this time, though do hope to organize a celebration at a later date.
