Obituary of Earnest E. Cawley Sr.

Earnest E. Cawley, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Earnie was born on July 4, 1941 in Youngstation, son of the late William and Isabelle (Howe) Cawley. Earnie worked a variety of jobs from driving school bus for Unatego, to most recently working as a driver for Country Club Nissan in Oneonta. Earnie was an avid bowler, and together with his family, ran the annual Jeremy Cawley Memorial Bowling Tournament for many years. Earnie was inducted into the Tri-County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2016. Earnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine (Steele) Cawley; his children, Stacy Johansen (Peter), Earnie Jr. (Kris) and Chad; grandchildren: Joshua Cawley, Marisa Cawley (Amber), Jayden Cawley, and Karl Johansen. He also had three step-granddaughters: Christine, Heather and Rebecca. He is also survived by a brother, William, and two sisters, Patricia and Della, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Earnie was predeceased by his son, Jeremy, and his sister, Carol. There will be no service or calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Franklin Fire House, Franklin, NY 13775.
