Frank J. Mazzarella, 76, of Sidney, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, November 30, 2010 at his home. Frank was born on March 8, 1934, the only child of the late Frank "Dunk" and Emma (Moore) Mazzarella in Sidney. Before graduating from high school, Frank enlisted in the United States Navy, serving until his honorable discharge in 1954. On October 7, 1953, Frank married Rose Marie Cutting in Bainbridge. Together, they shared 57 years of love and marriage. Frank was best known for being the proprietor of 20th Century Lanes in Sidney for over forty years, retiring in 1999. Frank was a 22 year member of MacDonald Hose Fire Co. in Sidney, as well a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #277 and the Charles L. Jacobi American Legion Post 183, both of Sidney, for over fifty years. Frank loved the outdoors and for the better part of his life, enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as camping with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved to tease people, especially his grandkids. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.

Three children: son, Joseph L. Mazzarella and his wife, Audrey of Bainbridge; daughter, Mary M. Deck and her husband, Kenneth of Unadilla; and Jeffrey A. Mazzarella and his wife, Lynne of Sidney
Grandchildren: Brooke Mazzarella, TJ Mazzarella, Jennifer Insinga, April Mazzarella, Rosemary Gregory, Dominick Mazzarella, Emily Gregory, Alyzza Mazzarella, Lydia Gregory, Ethan Mazzarella, Natalie Gregory, Jacob Mazzarella, Amber Mazzarella, and Marina, Michael and Maegan Mazzarella
Great grandchildren: Alyssa Mance, Vincent Mazzarella, Casey Lynne Mazzarella, and Thomas, Trace and Carolynn Mazzarella and an unborn great grandbaby on the way
As well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.
Frank was predeceased by his father and step-mother, Dunk and Dina Mazzarella; his mother, Emma Knapp; two sons, Frank "Gus" Mazzarella and John T. Mazzarella and his beloved dog, Zipper.
Friends are invited to call from 5:00-8:00pm on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 3rd at the funeral chapel with Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
