Obituary of Randy L. DuMond
Please share a memory of Randy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our loving husband, father, grampy, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, friend, and overall one of a kind man, Randy L. DuMond, age 63, of Bainbridge, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Oxford, NY on March 21, 1960 to Muriel and Keith DuMond and graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford School in 1978.
Randy worked at Simmons Precision (GE) right after high school. In 1979, he went on to work at Bendix/Amphenol Aerospace where he was employed for 44 years, and still employed at the time of his death. He began in the shop and worked his way into a manufacturing engineer position.
His outside interests include deer and bear hunting and bowling (like his mother and grandfather), but his favorite thing was golf with his son Brian. Together they won two championships, one in 2013 and the other in 2015. He was proud of the TWO hole in ones he had; the first on May 27, 2021 and the second on May 26, 2022, both at Hardwood Hills Golf Course. He was an avid sports lover including the New York Giants, New York Mets, New York Rangers, New York Knicks among them. He took great pride in coaching his kids Brian and Kelly in many sports like T-ball, peewee football, basketball, baseball and softball.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy (DeForest), whom he married in 1997; his children, Brian (Lindsey) DuMond of Bainbridge and Kelly (Trevor) Nowalk of Waxhaw, NC; his four beautiful granddaughters: Makenna, Myla and Mckinley Nowalk and Collins DuMond; his siblings: Patricia DuMond, Sherry (Tom) LaRose, Bonnie (John) Farris, Kim (Scott) Thies, and brother from another mother and best friend, Gary (Sue) Darling; his in-laws, George and Sharon Hunt; sisters-in-law, Sherry (Bruce) Hanson, Michelle (Joey) Hunt and Heather (Mike) Bachman; brothers-in-law, Shawn (Kathy) DeForest and David (Christine) DeForest, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Keith DuMond; mother and stepfather, Muriel and Fred Matteson; "special father figure", Lloyd Darling and father-in-law, Dave DeForest.
It speaks volumes to the character of a man who is going through a terrible illness to reach out to family and friends he held dear and make sure they knew how much he learned from, cherished, valued, and loved them.
Friends are invited to call from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, February 23, 2024 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. The family request if possible to wear your favorite sports attire to support Randy's love of sports. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Randy's memory may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
A celebration of Randy's life will be announced at a later date.
