Obituary of Millard I. Castle Jr.

Millard I. Castle, Jr., 88, passed away at home on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1935 in Canton, PA, son of the late Millard and Zora (Moretz) Castle. Millard served in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1961. On September 2, 1961, he was married to Phyllis Manwarren in Bainbridge, sharing the next 62 years together. No stranger to hard work, Millard spent many years driving milk, lime or feed trucks or working in factories, until he found his passion in farming in 1980. In his free time, he loved to hunt. In addition to his loving wife Phyllis, Millard is survived by two sons, Michael and Lisa Castle of Bainbridge, and Steven Castle and girlfriend, Kathy Bechtold of Bainbridge; grandchildren: Lindsey Castle and fiancé Kory Rogers and Jonathan Castle; sister, Edna Grover of Southington, CT and brother, Alfred (Phyllis) Castle of Canton, PA. Millard was predeceased by several siblings and their spouses: Edith (Stanley) Cole, Jim (Edith and Elizabeth) Castle, Lola (Ray) Stanbery, Benjamin (Leola) Castle, Robert Claude (Marion) Castle, Ruby (Edward) Conley, Arnold Castle, Mabell (Gerald) Avery, Shirley (Walter) Metzger, Eva Ice Gorus (Elias Ice and John Gorus), Violet (Thomas) Jankowski, Lela (Jasper) Smith, Frank (Shirley) Castle and brother-in-law, Bob Grover. Friends are invited to call from 2:00-4:00pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford, NY.
