Obituary of Dorothy Radley

Dorothy Ann (Dietrich) Radley, "Dot", passed away March 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by family after a short illness. Dot was born October 16, 1933, in Marathon, NY to Clyde and Edna Dietrich. They moved to Great Bend, Pennsylvania when she was 3 years old. She graduated from high school there. She met the love of her life, Donald Radley, at a dance. They married June 26, 1954, moving to Sidney, NY shortly after. She worked up until she had children; she took time off to raise them. She went back to work at the Sidney Central School in the cafeteria, and as an aide in the classroom and then in the library until she retired. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Donnie and Bobby, and sister, Kay, along with her husband, Don and son, David. She is survived by her sister, Marion Walker of Carmichaels, PA; her sister-in-law, Betty Dietrich of Binghamton, NY; son, Brien (Trudy) Radley of Belleview, FL; daughter-in-law, Sue Radley of Columbia, SC; and daughter, Tammy (Mike) Barnes of Mount Upton, NY. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Ben (Chelsea) Radley, Nate (Sarah) Radley, Jess Barnes, Jake (Sara) Barnes, Danny (Courtney) Radley, Jed (Laura) Barnes, Tim (Marygayle) Radley and Tom Radley. Dot was very proud of her great-grandchildren: Kaden Radley, Cali Radley, Gabby Barnes, Gigi Barnes, Guy Barnes, Wilbur Barnes, Madeline Barnes, Annalynn Radley, Julia Radley, Layla Radley, and Willow Radley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she had a special place in her heart for. Many years of spending time in Canada at the family camp that drew us all close together. Dot was also predeceased by very special friends Doris and Bill Bird, who she shared a lifetime of companionship with; even living together as married couples until they could each afford to buy a house. She had many special friends during her winters in Lady Lake, FL, and her summers in Sidney, where she enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, and mahjong. The family will hold a private celebration of life. Friends are encouraged to plant a tree or feed the birds that she loved to watch.
