Obituary of Marguerite Wakeman

Marguerite Wakeman, 86, of Nineveh, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Marguerite was born on May 9, 1937 in Afton, NY, daughter of the late Roy and Edna (Waterman) Gott. She attended Ridley Business College and began work at Scintilla. On August 4, 1957, she was married to Fred Duane Wakeman in Afton. She became a homemaker and together they owned and operated Wakeman Vegetable & Pumpkin Farm. Duane predeceased her on February 21, 2018 after 60 years of marriage. Marguerite is survived by her grandson, Daniel Sandoli; granddaughter, Katie Sandoli; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Duane, Marguerite was predeceased by her son, Sam Wakeman; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Denny Sandoli; and her adopted daughter-in-law, Barb Fiske. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2024 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 27th at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Franziska Racker Centers, the home where her granddaughter Katie resides, Attn: Community Relations, 3226 Wilkins Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
