For Papa:
Life can be compared to the yellow brick road. Sometimes you go uphill, sometimes you go downhill. There are cracks and uneven surfaces you have to overcome. Yet, on this yellow brick road you meet people, you smile, and the sun shines even through the trees. Some days you want to turn around and go back and not do it at all. However, the next day the road is still there, ready for you to walk it. Papa walked the yellow brick road each day. He didn’t always have a nice calm walk; he hit bumps and got turned around, but he always kept walking. He colored the world around him. Colored what he wanted it to look like and what he remembered it looking like. He told his story through small moments. A strong man and a fighter. He took on the yellow brick road and he loved it. Always teaching those around him to do what makes them happy. If you enjoy it, that is the most important thing. We each walk the yellow brick road in our own way and at our own pace. Papa showed us how to do this. His walk isn’t over, it just changed a little. Just as our lives do. Now he walks the road in another place with other loved ones, but we know he is still going. He is showing us the way and guiding us as we continue our journeys. We love you Papa, forever and always. We can’t wait to walk again with you someday.
Dad:
You served your country, you served your family. You were a loving father and grandfather that sacrificed and provided so much. You had a good life and ran a great race. You will be missed but never forgotten. You are relieved of your post as we will take your post and serve and sacrifice as you did. Stand-down Marine and rest.
Sincere gratitude extended to Canton GA Northside Cherokee Hospital staff on the 9th floor for the wonderful care provided.
