Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul Turner, 81, of Sidney, NY entered peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday September 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was born on January 22, 1943, son of the late Lawrence and Esther (Gould) Turner in Deposit. Paul married Doris Spade on April 4, 1970, in Clearfield, PA. Paul moved from Cannonsville with his parents to East Guilford in 1960. He graduated from Sidney Central School in 1961. After graduation he joined his father Lawrence, in operating the family dairy farm. Paul continued farming, creating a successful dairy with his family by his side. To his last days he talked about farming, how he longed to work the ground and the animal husbandry of his chosen profession on the Turner Family farm for 63 years. Paul enjoyed seeing the neighbors farm, even on the land he used to own. In retirement he would often say “they have lots of cows to tend to, better than me!!” After retiring in 2000, he worked at Hearth’s of Fire in Oneonta where his son also worked before, he began mowing lawns full time for a number of years. Together Paul and Doris were honorary members of the Dairylea Cooperative Inc. and honorary charter members of the Sidney FFA. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sidney. He served as Trustee, participating in work details, mowing the church lawn on a weekly basis as part of his ministry to the church. He was also a member of the choir and volunteered his time and talents in other ways for many years. Paul enjoyed woodworking. He built cabinets and shelves for his home and furniture for his family. He enjoyed making wooden boxes for family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and looked forward to sharing the produce with his family and friends. Most of all he loved his family.
Paul was predeceased by Doris, his loving wife of 46 years; his sister, Evelyn Jakubowski; and his parents, Lawrence and Esther Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children: daughter, Paula and her husband, Paul Blake; son, Andrew Turner and his wife, Shannon; grandchildren: Joshua Blake, Bethany (Yair) Valle, Noah (Abby) Blake, Adam Blake, and Abigale Turner and great grandson: Luca Valle; his twin sister, Pauline (Roger) Thompson, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
