Obituary of Elaine M. Gransbury

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine (Huyck) Gransbury announce her sudden passing on September 17, 2024. Elaine was born on February 17, 1964, to parents Richard 'Dick' Huyck and Roberta (Button) Huyck, in Sidney, NY, where she remained throughout her life. Dick was a Chief of Sidney Fire Department and Roberta a head nurse at The Sidney Hospital. She married Steven Gransbury on December 10, 1983, with whom she later had sons Jared and Christopher. Elaine obtained an associate's degree in computer accounting from Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute in Binghamton, NY. She used her knowledge and passion to support local businesses and individuals with tax and accounting services. She was most recently employed by York Rakes in Unadilla, NY, and thriving in her role. Elaine was an active member of the Sidney Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. 2175, for 17 years. She served time as a house committee chairperson and remained a current committee member until her death. She spent time as a bartender as well as in the kitchen, and frequently worked banquets, always willing to take charge when needed. She will be missed dearly by her Elks Family. Elaine is survived by her mother Roberta; brother George; husband Steven; sons Jared and Christopher; daughters-in-law Ondrea & Rachel, and grandchildren Sadie & Leo. Earlier this month, she was delighted to host a baby shower for soon-to-be parents, Christopher & Rachel. She was looking forward to becoming a grandmother again to a baby girl, due in January 2025. Family and friends are warmly invited to a Celebration of Life, to be held at the Sidney Elks Lodge on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 3:00pm - 5:30pm. May she rest in eternal peace.
