Joanne Marie Paige Borchert
Age 61, of Princeton, TX, formerly of Huntington, LI and Sidney, NY
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Marie Paige Borchert. For the last several years, Joanne had been striving to live her best life, accomplishing personal, family and career goals while living with ovarian cancer. As a result of her illness, she passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2024 with husband Glenn and son Dean by her side.
Along with her husband Glenn Borchert and son Dean Borchert of Princeton, TX, Joanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Katie & Conner Martin-Borchert of Denver, CO; mother Patricia Hulse of Horseheads, NY; sisters Denise (Kenneth) Boise of Sherburne, NY, Shari (Richard) Paige-Rich of Horseheads, NY and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her father Dennis Paige; stepfather, Howard Hulse and her grandparents.
Born on April 24, 1963 the daughter of Dennis and Patricia Paige, Joanne was raised in the “Brooklyn” neighborhood of Sidney, NY. She graduated from Cazenovia College in 1983, then went onto SUNY Brockport receiving her BA in social work in 1985. On September 20, 1986, she married Glenn Borchert, and in 1988 and 1994 respectively, they welcomed their son Dean and daughter Katie into their lives.
Joanne was a woman whose heart and soul were full of a drive to help people. She worked tirelessly with developmentally delayed or disabled children to give them their best chance in life. She harbored a deep affection for the natural world and passed that love onto her children, donating to conservation efforts and sponsoring endangered species. Her children were the most important part of her life and she gave them all the love and support a mother could including shepherding her son through Boy Scouts all the way to Eagle or making sure her daughter’s wedding was truly the greatest day of her life. Her loss leaves a deep scar, and she will be truly missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit CH Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St, Sidney on Thursday, October 24th from 12 – 2pm. Her Memorial Service will begin at 2pm with committal prayers and interment following at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Celebrations of Life are also being held in Texas and Long Island for her many cherished friends and co-workers.
