Obituary of Ethlyn A. Overton

Ethlyn A. Overton Wells Bridge, NY Ethlyn A. Overton, 81, of Wells Bridge went into the Lord's loving arms on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at her daughter's home in Wells Bridge. She was born July 12, 1929, daughter of the late August and Lena (McNeil) Ackerman in Goshen, NY. Ethlyn married Theodore Overton on September 19, 1948 in Cornwall. They spent five years as missionaries in Quito, Ecuador. He was a radio technician for HCJB. Ethlyn was the first white woman in a village there. The Rev. Overton and his family moved to Newburgh. There, he was the pastor of the First Congregational Church of Newburgh for 29 years and retired in 1986. They then moved to Bainbridge, NY. She is survived by: 2 Sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel Lewis and Andrea Overton of Wallkill Timothy John and Joana Overton of Hamilton 2 Daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Gerald Bourgeois of Unadilla Sharon and John Wiedeck of Wells Bridge Her sister, Joyce Davis of Cornwall, NY Special cousin, Brian and Jeanne Fletcher of Sidney Two grandsons, seven granddaughters, numerous great grandchildren Several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a best friend, Jean Walker of Hartford, Maine Ethlyn was predeceased by her husband, Theodore and daughter, Rebecca Lynn Overton. Funeral services, and committal in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Project Life Savers", Alzheimer's Association, The Meadows, Suite 2, 140 County Highway 33 West Cooperstown, NY 13326 or to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr. Oneonta, NY 13820.
