Kenneth M. Axtell, Jr., 75, of South New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Ken was born on August 19, 1935, son of the late Kenneth, Sr. and Sylvia (Frank) Axtell in Deposit. Ken graduated from Delhi College with his associates and joined the National Guard, serving honorably from 1956 until 1958. Ken was a bank executive with Farmers National Bank in Deposit for 35 years, retiring in 1992. On April 5, 1991, Ken was married to Joan Blood at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Berlin.
Ken was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Berlin, as well as American Legion Post 1289, South New Berlin. Ken served on the Tri-Town Regional Hospital Foundation in Sidney, and was President of the South New Berlin Library Board. Ken was also an honorary member of the NBT Board of Directors in Norwich.

Brother-in-law, George Blood and his wife, Clarice of Norwich
2 Sisters-in-law, Susan Zagami and her husband, Paul of Norwich
Helen Murray and her husband, Michael of Norwich
As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Berlin with Rev. Chuck Taylor, pastor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will be at a later date in St. Andrews Cemetery, New Berlin.
