Obituary of Cindy L. Engel
Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the morning of Monday, December 16, 2024, Cindy L. Engel of Greene N.Y. passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, N.Y.
Cindy was born on August 18, 1958 in Sidney N.Y., the daughter of John A. and Anna H. (Schwarz) Engel. She was raised near the Engel family's dairy farm on Butts Road in Bainbridge, N.Y. She often spoke fondly of her memories growing up there along side her siblings and cousins. After graduating Bainbridge-Guilford High School in 1976, she went on to have a family of her own. While raising her three children she continued her education and became an LPN, a career she was truly proud of attaining. Outside of nursing she thoroughly enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, and crafting. Above all though, she would tell you that most of her best days were spent doing these things with her family and friends. She treasured being surrounded by those she loved, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cindy is survived by her children; Kelly (Shawn) Kelly of Oxford, N.Y., Casey (Rich Fife) Cutting of Sidney, N.Y., and Matthew (Nicole) Cutting of Port Orange, F.L., her grandchildren; SSG Caleb (Alexa) Cutting, Alexander (Megan Hayner) Utter, Joshua Kelly, Ethan (Mackenzie) Kelly, Abigail (Connor Gates) Buckley, Kage Fife, A1C Keegan Fife, Kamden Fife, Stella Cutting, Wyatt Cutting, Arianna Kelly and Aidan Kelly, her great-grandchildren; Emelia Cutting, Theodore Cutting, Atalie Kelly and Callan Kelly.
Cindy is also survived by her father, John A. Engel of South Plymouth, N.Y., her brothers; Robert (Kelly) Engel, Richard (Donna) Pierce Sr., Kevin Pierce, her sisters; Johanna (Terry) Cutting, Jacalyn (David) Starbird, Rosemarie (Eric) Heisler, Bonnie Campbell and Karen Pierce, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and best friend, Barbette Rothmeyer.
She was predeceased by her mother, Anna H. Engel, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Friedrich and Patricia Engel.
A graveside service will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge, N.Y. in the spring. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com.
