Obituary of Dominick Joseph Savino

Dominick J. Savino, Jr. (Junior) of Masonville, N.Y. passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2025, at home with his family and friends by his side. Dominick was born on November 16th, 1942 to Domenico & Palmina (Nee/ DiRenno) Savino in Ossining, N.Y. He lived in Ossining on Dale Avenue his entire life in the home his father built until moving to Masonville, N.Y. in 2004. Dominick was always working while in school in worked at a local gas station, then one on the Sawmill Parkway, as well as in a factory putting boilers together. He worked for the Village of Ossining Water Department for 44 years, and after retiring he worked for Sacred Heart Church, always keeping busy. Dominick was a member of the Ossining Fire Department for 62 years, Member of the Knights of Columbus -Sacred Heart Council, CSEA retired member, and a member of Cooperstown Charlotte Valley Railroad. He enjoyed being around (People) as he would say, cooking, grocery shopping, golf, reading, watching the news, going to the casino occasionally and most of all playing with his trains. He loved having all the kids come to visit, occasionally their friends would come as well and Dom would treat them as his own. If you knew Dom he would be outside from Dawn to Dusk cutting his lawn or playing with his big toys in the field. Dominick is survived by his wife Rita and his beloved dog Ziggy, whom Dom referred to as his Grandson, and always said he was blessed for the life that he had. Surviving children are Anthony (Jill) Savino & Dominick Jr., stepchildren Melissa DiSisto Gibbons (Mike), Christina Campos (Saulo), DeAnna Lanier (Jamie). His grandchildren whom he adored and loved endlessly Stephanie Savino, Anthony Savino, Vincent Savino, Dehlia Savino, Karine Savino, Tayla Mazzocchi (Donny), Tristan Mazzocchi, Jack Fay, Zoe DiSisto, Lucy Campos, Jamieson Lanier, Giada Lanier, Luke Campos, Carter Gibbons, Priscilla Gibbons & Cody Gibbons Nieces, great nieces & nephews and their spouses, children and many forever friends over the years. He is preceded in death by his mother Palmina, his father Domenico, his son Peter, sisters Lucy Intano, Frances Savino, Josephine Donahue, brothers Tommy Savino & Tony Savino, who have been waiting his arrival in Heaven. As well as his two dogs Max & Spanky. He will always be treasured by many, loved by all and will never be forgotten as he smiles down upon all of us. Friends may call Thursday, January 9, from 6:00-8:00 pm at CH Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, January 10, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church Liberty St. Sidney. In lieu of flowers donations may be made fora memorial tree or the Wounded Warrior Project Arrangements are under the direction of CH Landers Funeral Chapel Sidney.
