Obituary of Betty Whitney

Betty Whitney Sidney, NY Betty Whitney, resident of Stuart, FL and former resident of Sidney, became our angel on July 3, 2011 after a 17 year courageous battle with multiple myeloma and leukemia. Betty was born on September 25, 1933 in Bainbridge, NY to Duane and Minnie Dutcher, who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Duane (Richard) and Robert (Bobby) Dutcher. Betty is survived by her husband of 30 years, Paul Whitney. She is also survived by her children: Susan Hayen (John), Timothy Pendorf (Cindy), and Sandra Pendorf (Paul) and by Paul's daughters Cynthia Chaffee (Marshall), Linda Meyers (Mark), Donna Vander Mark (Dave) and Sandy Henderson (Eric). Her amazing and talented grandchildren: Amber, Jarrin, Christopher, Dustin (Nicole) Rae Jean, Calvin, Travis, Terence, Ashley, Melissa, Josh, Zachary, Mitchell, Claudia and Grace; and her very special great grandchildren Elijah, Kylie and Teagan. Betty is also survived by her special friends, Adrian, Lynn, Sally and Ronita and her special nieces and nephews. "Betts" will always be remembered for her kindness, beauty and especially her "cakes". Betty was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who always closed with "I Love You More". The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Martin Memorial Hospital, all of her doctors and nurses in the oncology units, and especially Gail Brecker, whose care through the years helped guide Betts through this journey; the staff at the Harper Hospice House in Stuart, FL, Andrea and Shakiena who helped Betts and her family ease through the last days of her life with dignity, care and peace. You are angels on Earth! Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838 where the family will be in attendance. A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 13th at the funeral chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw, pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Dr. Oneonta, NY 13820 or to the Harper Hospice House 1000 S.E.
