Obituary of James G. O'Neil

James G. O'Neil Sidney, NY James G. O'Neil, 93, passed away at his residence in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, August 26, 2011. Beside Jim at the time of his death was his beloved wife of 71 years, Jean Pittet O'Neil. Jim passed quietly of natural causes. Jim was born in Sidney on September 30, 1917. On June 29, 1940, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Jean Paulette Pittet in Sidney. He is survived by his two sons, James O'Neil, Jr., Olean, VA and Dennis O'Neil, Napa Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas G. O'Neil, a lifelong resident of Sidney. Jim attended Hartwick College on an athletic scholarship, and remained an avid golfer throughout his life. Jim's business career was with Keith Clark, Inc. (At-A-Glance) in Sidney. As president of the company, Jim worked tirelessly to insure that Keith Clark was always a great corporate resident in our community. James Gerald O'Neil loved life and lived it with joy and a full spirit. With Jean beside him, Jim was always a loving husband, caring father and responsible citizen. Jim O'Neil is dearly missed. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney at 3:00pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be directed to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, PO Box 182 Sidney, NY 13838. Arrangements under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney.
