Obituary of James D. Gormley

James D. Gormley, Sr. Bainbridge, NY James D. Gormley, Sr., 75, of Bainbridge, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. James was born on July 4, 1936 in Auburn, NY son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Gormley. Upon graduating from high school, James served in the United States Navy. James was a 32 year employee of Bainbridge-Guilford High School, serving as Head Custodian until his retirement in 2006. He was a dedicated Afton Raceway enthusiast, never missing a night. He was also an avid fan of NY Giants football and NY Mets baseball. James is survived by: His companion of 32 years, Alison Thoms of Bainbridge 4 Sons: Jeffrey and Mary Leggett of Binghamton Harry S. Leggett of Fredericksburg, VA James D. and Aimee Gormley of Bainbridge Patrick J. and Melissa Gormley of Bland, VA 4 Daughters: Debra and Thomas Steven Clark of Bowie, MD Teri and Craig Buck of Fredericksburg, VA Rebecca and Michael Ayers of Fredericksburg, VA Brenda and David Seybert of Stafford, VA 1 Brother, David Gormley of Elmira, NY As well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. James was predeceased by three brothers: Charles, Vincent and Joseph Gormley. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 2:00-3:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.
