Reed Michael Holbert, 57, of Bainbridge, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Reed was born on July 13, 1954, son of Victor and Johanne Holbert in Sidney. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, and for 33 years, worked at Elmer's in Bainbridge as a compounder. Most recently, Reed was employed by Amphenol Corp. in Sidney. On June 6, 1987, Reed was married to Linda Schmidt in Bainbridge.
Reed loved nature, being outdoors and all that entailed. He enjoyed splitting wood, mowing, taking walks and camping. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Every year, Reed and friends would head north for a hunting trip. He also hunted with his father in his younger years. Reed loved making maple syrup for his family and friends. An accomplished bowler, Reed could pride himself on rolling a perfect 300 game. He owned a '67 Corvette Stingray convertible and took pleasure in long rides through the countryside.
Of all the things Reed did, he adored his children most of all. He loved watching them play sports and would tell them every day to "Go Learn Something." He was exceptionally proud of them. He was a good friend, willing to do anything for anyone. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

Aunt, Wilburna Wahlberg of Bainbridge
His best friend, his dog, Meeka.
As well as numerous friends.
Reed was predeceased by his father, Victor Holbert.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Burial will take place at 11:00am on Friday, June 22nd in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bainbridge-Guilford Booster Club c/o Christine Smith, 2 Linda Lane Bainbridge, NY 13733.
