Charles "Charlie" S. Sherman, Sr., 77, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Chenango Memorial Nursing Home in Norwich. Charlie was born on April 4, 1935, son of the late William and Helen Sherman. On January 16, 1955, he was married to Marcia Miller in Afton. A self-employed carpenter, Charlie took great pleasure in spending time in his workshop doing his woodworking. Charlie also loved country music, and for 60 years, was the leader of Charlie Sherman & The Ridge Runners. For many years, the band played at numerous round and square dances in the area. He was also known to donate his time and musical skills to different benefits and fundraisers for local organizations. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.

His loving wife of 58 years, Marcia Sherman (Bainbridge)
Three sons: Charles, Jr. and Theresa Sherman (Bainbridge), Randy Sherman (Bainbridge) and David Sherman (Bainbridge)
Four Grandsons: Mathew and Nicole Sherman (Bainbridge), Zachary Sherman (Tennessee), David M. Sherman (Masonville) and Devin Sherman (Bainbridge)
Granddaughter, Tammie Sherman (Sidney)
Great-grandson, Pierce Sherman (Bainbridge)
Sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Robert Burrows (Oquaga, NY)
As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by two brothers, Morell and Wilford Sherman; and three sisters, Leta Axtell, Viola Loudon and Doris Wesalnak.
Friends are invited to call from 6:00-9:00pm on Monday, March 11, 2013 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 12th at the funeral chapel with Rev. Gary Kubitz, pastor of the Bainbridge United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association for research at www.alz.org.
