Obituary of Horace Henry Barnard

Horace H. Barnard Afton, NY Horace Henry Barnard, 83, of Afton, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Horace was born on January 25, 1930, son of the late Sanford and Iva Mae (Fredenburgh) Barnard in Coventry. Horace worked on the family farm in Afton for 30 years and retired from Borden's Chemical Co. in Bainbridge after 20 years of employment. Horace had a love for horses and worked part time caring for them until his health declined. Horace is survived by four sisters: Alice (Herb) Sines of Tennessee, Ruth Gunther of Newark Valley, Marian Gladysz of Port Jefferson, Long Island and Mary (Richard) Poltz of Afton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Horace was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Sanford Barnard and William Barnard; and two sisters, Etta Me Norman and Polly Fletcher. In respect for Horace's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be private and at the conveneince of the family in Eastside Cemetery, Afton.
