Hans R. "Rudy" Haller

Hans R. "Rudy" Haller passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his home. He was born in 1936 to Ernst and Ida Haller Zahn in Reinach, Switzerland. He completed the standard educational program and followed up by serving a four year apprenticeship as a toolmaker. The mandatory military service he served as a jet engine mechanic in the Swiss Air Force and continued his technical education at the Institute of Technologie in Winterthur by becoming a Mechanical Engineer HTL.
In 1962, during the Cuban crisis, he emigrated to the USA and found a job as a tooldesigner at Scintilla in Sidney, NY. In 1964, he married Irma Tognola. She predeceased him in 2010. In 1967, Rudy started his own company, H.R. Haller Services, Inc. The company designed and built special machines and manufactured precision parts for many companies in the eastern US and Canada. He retired in 2001 and lived in Guilford. He is survived by a sister, Susanna Buergin Haller and her husband, Albert; a brother-in-law, Edmund Tognola and his wife, Pat, and several nieces and nephews in Switzerland and the USA.
At Rudy's request, there will be no formal funeral services. Memorial donations may be made in Rudy's name to either the Salvation Army or to a service organization of ones choice. Memories of Rudy may be shared online at www.landersfh.com.
