Eleanor Matteson Mt. Upton, NY Eleanor Matteson, 89 of Mt. Upton passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Eleanor was born on October 23, 1919, daughter of the late Fred and Jennie (Crumb) Herrick in Earlville, NY. On February 15, 1941, Eleanor married Ellsworth Matteson in Mt. Upton. He survives her. Eleanor was a member of the Calvary Baptist-Wesley Chapel in Zephyrhills, FL. Eleanor was a wonderful musician, playing the piano, and the organ in church. She volunteered her talents to entertain residents in nursing homes in Zephyrhills for 27 years. Eleanor and Ellsworth attended the First Baptist Church of Sidney, as well as the First Baptist Church of Mt. Upton. Eleanor is survived by: Loving husband of 68 years, Ellsworth Matteson Mt. Upton Daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Menahem Lazarowitz Tel Aviv, Israel Grandchildren: Jeff and Toba Lazarowitz and Danite and Shy Frenkel Great Grandchildren: Tom, Mai, Ben and Daniel 5 Sisters-in-law: Irene Johnson, Arlyn Wade, Ruthie Hoyt, Janice Peckham and Ruth Matteson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor's name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Sidney, 28 River St. Sidney, NY 13838; the First Baptist Church of Mt. Upton, 1743 State Highway 8 Mt. Upton, NY 13809; or to the charity of ones choice. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.landersfh.com.
