Obituary of Florence M. Hanft

Florence M. Hanft Sidney, NY Florence M. Hanft, 91 of Sidney passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at her home. Florence was born on February 12, 1918, daughter of the late Ernest and Ella L. (Topliff) MacDonald in Sidney. She graduated from Sidney High School with the class of 1936. On December 11, 1943, Florence married James F. Hanft in Columbus, Ohio. Florence was a longtime employee of E.C.D. of Bendix, working as secretary to the general manager until her retirement on March 31, 1977. Flo was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney. Florence is survived by: Loving husband of 68 years, James Hanft Sidney 2 nieces: Fay Stockwell and Joyce Alexander and her husband, Bruce 1 nephew: Fred Mertz Brother-in-law, Jerome Mertz As well as several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, James MacDonald, William MacDonald and Kenneth B. MacDonald, Sr., and her sister, Phyllis Mertz. A private prayer service was held at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel last Friday, June 19, 2009. Burial took place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
