I agree that Paul may have crossed out the Dr. bferoe his name in the guest book because he wanted to be remembered as a friend of Alexs, not just his therapist. He also probably did not want people to look at it and wonder about him being Alexs therapist because even though alex has passed away he may not want to show Alexs family something that they didnt know, like him going to therapy. I think that Paul invited Laura because she knew alex and maybe she was the only other person he knew that knew him so he may have felt obligated to let her know what had happened. He also probably did want someone there who he knew and could talk about it with and who would comfort him.I felt like Laura felt uncomfortable there the whole time. She hesitated when she went to sign the guest book and then just put the pen down and didn't sign it. I think she felt guilty being around Alexs family and close friends at his funeral knowing that in a way Alex had betrayed them with her. I think that Pauls story about his father may have made her feel more uncomfortable towards Paul knowing that she could be that patient that takes him away from his wife and kids just like his dad. This thought may have disgusted her and turned her off from him. And because she already felt uncomfortable I can see why she just wouldn't want to be there anymore. At this point, it seems like Lauras feelings toward Paul are not as intense. It may have just been the setting that they were in, but I felt like Paul was trying to connect and get close to her more than she did was with him. I think that since therapy she has learned more about Paul and maybe she is rethinking her feelings towards him, especially now after hearing that story.
