Edward James Alcott 86 of Bainbridge passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 22, 1927, son of the late Russell and Daisy (Greengrow) Alcott in Homer, NY.
Ed served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953 and the reserves until 1959.
He married Freida Manwarren on January 16, 1954 in Bainbridge, together they built their home and raised a family enjoying almost 60 years of marriage.
Ed was employed as an LP service technician; he started working for Happy Family in 1955 and retired from Suburban Propane in 1989.
He was a member of the Sidney American Legion and he loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ed enjoyed camping and tending to his many flower gardens.
He loved watching NASCAR and spending time with his family especially the grandchildren.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Diarmuid O'Hara, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge officiating.
Burial will be in West Bainbridge Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County 21 Hayes St. Norwich, NY 13815, the American Cancer Society or the charity of ones choice.
