Obituary of Robert Livingston Whyte

Robert L. Whyte Guilford, NY Robert Livingston Whyte, 79 of Guilford, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 6, 2009 at his home. Robert was born on September 6, 1929, son of the late William R. Whyte, Jr. and Adrea Roe Whyte in Hackensack, NJ. While in high school, Robert joined the New Jersey Air National Guard for active duty during World War II. He graduated from Ridgewood High School, Ridgewood, NJ. After high school, Robert obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ. He then received his teaching degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta. Robert was a welding instructor, spending his career teaching at different schools, including Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES in Auburn, NY, Auburn Community College and the State University of New York at Cobleskill. On July 11, 1953, Robert married Joyce Coan in Spring Valley, NY. Joyce survives him. Robert was an active member of St. John's Church in Bainbridge. He also worked for several years with the Boy Scouts of America. Robert is survived by: Loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Whyte of Guilford 2 sons: William and Melanie Whyte and their daughter, Meadow Anne of Guilford Robert J. Whyte of Binghamton 3 daughters: Kathi and Robert Bowser and their son, Thomas of Ogdensburg, NY Marie Renee Brown and her four children, Benjamin, Michael, Elizabeth and Max of Frisco, Texas Maryanne Whyte and her partner, Ellen Robertson, and her son Dustin Robertson of North Rose, NY 1 brother: Ronald D. Whyte of Palm Springs, CA As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins Friends are invited to call from 3:00-5:00pm on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY 13838. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Monday, August 17, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 34 South Main Street, Bainbridge, NY 13733 with Rev. Fr. Robert Dwyer as celebrant. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's name may be directed to St. John's Church, 34 South Main St. Bainbridge, NY 13733.
