Kathryn Irene (Darrow) Willets, 67, of Sidney, NY, formally of Hallstead, Pa went into eternal rest from a 3 year battle of cancer on August 2, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Willets in 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents Carl & Lucy Darrow, 2 brothers, 2 brothers-in-law and 1 step-grandson.
She is survived by her daughter Charlotte (Willets) Vasquez, son-in-law Victor Vasquez, and four step-children David, Roberta (Willets)Pierce, Jerry Willets, & Susan Willets. She is also survived by her granddaughter Tanisha Willets and 9 step-grandchildren Joshua Beudion, Leanne Vasquez, Dustin Bonney, Bradford Norwood, Leon Pierce III, Bruce Wagner Jerry Willets Jr., Raymond Willets & Kyle Willets. Also surviving are 6 brothers Lauren (Thelma) Darrow, Herman Darrow, Norman Darrow, Stanley (Diane) Darrow, Kenneth (Lela) Darrow, & William (Amy) Darrow. 5 sisters; Gertrude (Harlan) Young, Martha Johnson, Blanche (Thomas) Birtch, Lillian Anderson, & Theresa (John) Bennici. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was born on December 21, 1946 in Hallstead, PA and graduated from Blue Ridge High school in 1966. She met the love of her life in 1967 and they were married in 1974. She has been a resident of Sidney since then. She was a dedicate member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1975. She was a faithful volunteer at the NYS Veteran's Home in Oxford for the last 9 years. She was also very well known by many people in Sidney and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it throughout her life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with the burial in Masonville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the New York State Veteran's Home Patient Fund 4207 State Highway 220 Oxford, NY 13830.
