Ralph Weeden 92 of Sidney passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born May 24, 1922, son of the late Elvere and Mattie (Alcott) Weeden in Sidney.
Ralph served his country in the United States Army from 1943-46 and was honorably discharged. He loved to roller skate and could be found working and skating at Hillcrest Roller Rink in Sidney, that is where he met his wife, Carole Moore. Ralph also worked at the Jamesway in Sidney from the day it opened until the day it closed, as well as a machinist for the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney for 42 years.
Ralph was a past charter member of the Sidney VFW and loved to bowl, hunt, fish and golf. He was still golfing at the age of 90 and was New York Met fan.
He is survived by:
Wife – Carole Weeden, Afton
Son – Claude Weeden and Bonnie George, Sidney
2 Daughters and son-in-laws, Barbara and Lance Lockwood, Afton
Lisa and David Jaindl, Afton
Son – Shawn and Jessica Weeden, Sidney
Grandchildren – Ronald and Elizabeth Weeden, Scott Jaindl, Tyler and Travis Weeden
Brother – James Weeden, Oxford
Ralph was also predeceased by, Brothers, Arthur and Russell, and sisters, Anna, Tillie, Marie and Elizabeth.
Friends may call Friday, August 15, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY. Upon Ralph's wishes there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park C/O the Sidney Community Foundation PO Box 333, Sidney, NY 13838.
