Jeffrey N. Hedlund
Guilford N.Y.
Jeffrey N. Hedlund, 58, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 at his home in Guilford surrounded by his adoring wife, mother and loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Flushing, NY on February 9th to Joyce Falkenbury of Queensbury NY, and the late Carl Hedlund, Jr. He lived for many years in the Glens Falls area before moving to the Albany area where he graduated from Guilderland High School and ultimately ended up living in beautiful Central New York. Jeff was an expert carpenter and the proud, self-employed, owner of Hillside Construction of Guilford NY.
Jeff was a proud and humbled participant in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, believing fully in the programs ability to save lives. He was the NFL Kansas City Chiefs most avid fan since participating in a summer camp with their players as a teen. Only his love of golf with his brother, brothers in law and friends would provide him more entertainment. His love of cooking garnered him a nickname "Chef Jeff" as his family and friends would benefit from his culinary talents in the kitchen and his year round outdoor grilling. Music was an important part of his life and melded within all that he did, inspiring building, meals and shared moments with family and friends. His shared love of animals with his wife provided him with the companionship of many beloved pets over the years, many of whom became "Daddy's girls". His sense of humor and ability to bring a smile to any persons face at any point in time only embellished his lifelong positive attitude toward all of life's endeavors.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, married on October 10, 1998 in Saratoga NY Carol (Caton) Hedlund, his Son Sgt. Nicolas Miller of Ft Drum NY., Daughter Amelia Ryan and her husband 1Lt Robert Ryan of Vicenza Italy, brother Carl Hedlund III and his wife "Betsy" of Weston Connecticut, sister Martha Kaubris and her husband Stan of Dover New Hampshire. His many In-laws, nieces and nephews provided him with great joy over the years.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jeff's life on Saturday October 18th at the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 112 Dingman Hill Road, Bainbridge NY at 2:00 P.M.
