Hazel A. Babcock
Sidney—Hazel Ann Babcock, 70, of Sidney, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2015 at her home. She was born on April 10, 1944 in Roscoe, NY, daughter of the late Wilbert and Amy (Vandermark) Young. On December 15, 1972, Hazel was married to Dennis Babcock, Sr. in Sidney. She was a 20 year employee of Amphenol Corp. in Sidney, working as an inspector, where she was also a member of the I.A.M. & A.W. 1529 Union.
Hazel was talented at crafting, especially crocheting, knitting and quilting, filling her home with her creations. She loved baking and canning, specializing in homemade apple butter, apple sauce and cinnamon bread. She was also an avid QVC shopper. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a heart of gold.
Hazel will be missed by her family: husband of 42 years, Dennis Babcock, Sr. of Sidney; four children and their spouses: Chella and Doreen Ascatigno of Rock Hill; Jacqueline and Michael Jaindl of East Branch; Dennis, Jr. and Maureen Babcock of Sidney; and Mark Babcock and Catalin Bulai of Buffalo; three grandchildren: Christopher and Vatisia Jaindl, Matthew Cavanagh and Allison Babcock; a great-grandbaby due to arrive in June, and her beloved canine companion, Mr. Edwards.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her brother, Wilbert.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 7:00-9:00pm and Wednesday, March 25th from 10:00am-12:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral services take place on Wednesday, March 25th at 12:00pm at the funeral chapel with Rev. Ben Shaw officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
